If you disagree with me, calmly go through most of the reigning songs, listen to their lyrics and tell me if they actually make sense.
It's been said that Nigerians do not appreciate good music and when i say good music, i mean songs that awaken moral consciousness, uplifting songs, songs that create awareness and motivate you to be better, songs that present women in a positive light. Apart from the likes of 2Baba, Timi Dakolo, Darey Art Alade who successfully found their way into the hearts of Nigerians, most of the music out there is just plain noise.
The truth is that most of these artists actually have very good voices, they sing pretty well and want to do meaningful songs, but the fear of hunger and not blowing is the beginning of ''Tinkolo Tinkolo songs''
Look at Yemi Alade for example, mehnnn that girl can sing ( check out her cover of Nyashinki's Mungu Pekee) but going through her latest songs like ''Tum bum Tum bum'', you'd realize she's trying to appeal to the majority of the Nigerian populace that actually enjoy the ''Tinkolo songs''( Trust me if Nigerians don't like your song, e go hard for you to blow)
The thing is, Nigerians are very very difficult to please, if you sing R.Kelly style, they will say you're overdoing and that you should come down to the Nigerian level, if you come down to the Nigerian level they will still talk. You really can't win with the Nigerian audience.

I guess the Nigerian artist should find a balance in their music, give the people beats that they can dance to( Nigerians love to dance) while adding meaningful lyrics to the beat.
